In 1950s, long before four-wheel-drive tractors became commonplace on farms around the country, members of the Taggart family in Augusta were building their own powerful 4WDs.

Betty and Greg Eckart (better known as Mrs. Claus and Mr. Greg) from Franklin County have been growing and selling Christmas trees since 1978.

The Southeast District Farm Family of the Year is Layne & Ryane Miles of Desha County. The Miles family runs a row crop operation that grows primarily soybeans, corn, cotton, and rice. They also help operate XtremeAg.farm, Advanced AG Products, LLC., and appear on the TV show The Podfather.

The Southwest District Farm Family of the year is Cody and Ashlee Askew of Hempstead County.

Kristin Lehman has been raising turkeys as a 4-H livestock project for several years, and has helped provide the turkeys pardoned by Gov. Asa Hutchinson for the last three years. Now she’s “passing the turkey torch” to someone new, so she sat down to tell us about her experience working with the popular poultry and being a part of a holiday tradition.

The Malcom Family are the West Central District Farm Family. Kent and Anita with their daughters Amanda and Kelly run the family farm which includes a herd of cattle, hay production, and Love Creek Nursery.

The East Central District Farm Family are the Trail family of Cottonwood Farms. Located in St Francis County, brothers Rusty and Dusty Trail along with their sons operate a row crop farm that has a rotating cycle of Cotton, Corn, Soybeans, and Milo.

The North Central District winner is the Broadwater Family of Independence County. They operate a multi-generation Cow-Calf ranch in the foothills of the Ozarks.
