Following a delay of almost two months from its traditional opening date, the Little Rock Farmers Market welcomed the public to a smaller version of the popular weekend destination at the Little Rock River Market. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the market will be limited to fresh produce vendors and safety protocols must be followed by visitors.

A Diversity in Agriculture conference has been set for Feb. 27-28 in an effort expand the awareness of the career and business opportunities that exist in agriculture. The conference will allow participants to explore opportunities through success stories and networking. It also is intended to foster an expansion of public and private partnerships within agriculture, Arkansas’ largest industry sector, accounting for more than $20 billion annually.
We talked to Arkansas Farm Bureau President Rich Hillman, who gave us his thoughts on this year’s American Farm Bureau Convention and explained the importance of the policy development process that wrapped up on the final day of convention. We also talked to two of the event’s workshop leaders about the economics of farming and the science of gene editing for agriculture.
Rich Hillman of Carlisle, recently elected president of Arkansas Farm Bureau, was selected Tuesday for a two-year term on the American Farm Bureau board of directors. He was elected to represent the Southern Region by delegates serving at the organization’s 101st annual convention in Austin, Texas.
The voting delegate session was held today, Jan. 21st, at the 2020 Annual American Farm Bureau Convention in Austin, Texas. Arkansas members joined 346 delegates from across the country who worked to set 2020 policy positions on issues important to the organization's 6 million members.
