Randy Veach and Rich Hillman will continue as president and vice president, respectively, of Arkansas Farm Bureau following their re-election Friday. Delegates also elected seven other board members during the final day of the organization’s 84th annual convention at the Hot Springs Convention Center.
Austin Kennon of Mountain View won the Young Farmers & Ranchers Discussion Meet at the Arkansas Farm Bureau 84th Annual Convention, Nov. 29 in Hot Springs. Kennon will now compete in January at the American Farm Bureau Federation conference in New Orleans.
Arkansas Farm Bureau recognized Chad Mooney of Clinton High School as its Outstanding Ag Educator. Beebe High School’s Zeb Prothro earned the Outstanding New Ag Educator Award, and Greenbrier High School grabbed the top spot as the Outstanding Ag Education Program. All were recognized at Farm Bureau’s 84th Annual Convention Nov. 29 at the Hot Springs Convention Center.

Dana Stewart is the 2018 recipient of the Stanley E. Reed Leadership Award from the Arkansas Farm Bureau Federation. Many in Arkansas know all too well about the devastating impact Alzheimer’s Disease and dementia can have on families. Providing care for loved ones suffering from these conditions is difficult without adequate support or knowledge. That’s why Arkansas Farm Bureau has partnered with the UAMS Arkansas Geriatric Education Collaborative to provide training for caregivers at the county level. In this edition of Arkansas Agcast, Sajni Kumpuris and Laura Spradley of the Collaborative discuss Alzheimer’s and dementia in Arkansas and this effort to help family members of those affected.
Once again, the final weekend of the Arkansas State Fair brought the annual Junior Livestock Auction and Arkansas Farm Bureau was on hand to support the hard-working youth from around the state who raised the prize-winning animals. American Farm Bureau President Zippy Duvall visited Arkansas to tour some farms and speak at the Woodruff County Farm Bureau annual meeting. He took time during his trip to discuss some of the issues facing America’s farmers and ranchers and how Farm Bureau is advocating for the best solutions for American agriculture’s challenges.
