John Bailey has been promoted to Director of the Commodity and Regulatory Affairs Department at the Arkansas Farm Bureau, replacing Travis Justice. In his new role, Bailey will be responsible for development, implementation and administration of department priorities and helping manage the department‘s efforts related to the organization’s commodity divisions, regulatory affairs activities, market information delivery, commodity checkoff program administration, and economic analysis impacting Arkansas agriculture.

This week, we hear about Arkansas Farm Bureau’s top policy priorities for the upcoming legislative session at the State Capitol and we learn about a new “micro dairy” operation started by an enterprising Searcy County teen.

Justin Reynolds has been promoted to Director of Organization and Member Programs at Arkansas Farm Bureau. In his new role, Reynolds will assist with supervision and direction for the organization’s district directors, who work with the county Farm Bureaus to implement legislative, leadership and agricultural outreach programming. He will also coordinate work with the Women’s Leadership Committee, the Young Farmers & Ranchers Committee, and the eight Collegiate Farm Bureau chapters in Arkansas.

Dr. Heidi Ward is a veterinarian for the University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture. Many cattle producers in the state know her from her successful work on the state's Beef Quality Assurance Program. Her expertise is now part of a national group advising trainers on how to conduct fair farm animal welfare audits.

The Arkansas Agriculture Hall of Fame has announced that six individuals will be inducted during 2021 due to their leadership and service to the state’s largest business sector.

At the age of just six, Huck Plyler, the son of Caleb and Briana Harris-Plyler, began putting together care packages for members of the military who were deployed in foreign countries. Now 10 years old, Huck has sent out more than 700 packages and continues his work to bring smiles to the faces of our military men and women. Huck is currently seeking military addresses to send packages.
