M*A*S*H Makes a Difference
It's almost M*A*S*H season, so we set out to learn more about the challenges of rural healthcare and the importance of this unique program designed to expose rising high-school juniors and seniors to healthcare-related careers. We spoke to Dr. Mark Jansen, associate professor and chief medical officer for UAMS, about the critical need for recruiting new doctors and health care professionals to Arkansas’s rural areas and to med student Shady Francis, who provided a testimonial on how the M*A*S*H camp attendance helped convince him to pursue a career in health care.
