AITC Poster Contest

Arkansas Ag In The Classroom Coloring Book, Poster and Essay Contest

Arkansas Farm Bureau, the Arkansas Ag-in-the-Classroom Program and the Midwest Dairy Council are co-sponsoring a statewide coloring book and poster contest to promote agriculture to school children. The contest will begin October 1, 2007 and continue until November 16, 2007.

Contest Objectives

  1. Promote Arkansas agriculture to students and teachers in Arkansas schools.
  2. Increase agricultural awareness of students and teachers in Arkansas schools.

Coloring Book Rules and Awards

  1. The coloring book contest is open to students in grades K-2.
  2. The coloring book must be completed by the student and submitted with the student’s name, school name, grade level, teacher’s name, and county to be considered in the state contest.
  3. Each county may submit only one coloring book entry to the state contest.
  4. An official of the county Farm Bureau must certify the entry as authentic work by the eligible student and sign the booklet.
  5. Prizes for the state winners are: First Place - $100.00, Second Place - $75.00, and Third Place - $50.00. Prizes at the county level are at the discretion of the county committee. County committees are responsible for any prizes at the county level.
  6. Entries for the state competition must be submitted to the state office by November 16, 2007.

Poster Contest Rules and Awards

  1. The poster contest is open to students in grades 3-6.
  2. The poster should have an agricultural theme, such as: abundant food, affordable food, hardworking farmers, or should depict practices of modern agriculture.
  3. The entry must be prepared on poster board not exceeding 25 inches by 35 inches. The entry must be the original work of the student and can be three dimensional.
  4. The back of the poster must include the student’s name, school name, grade level, teacher’s name, and county.
  5. An official of the county Farm Bureau must certify the poster as authentic work by the eligible student and sign the back of the poster.
  6. Prizes for the state poster contest are: First Place - $100.00, Second Place - $75.00, and Third Place - $50.00. Prizes at the county level are at the discretion of the county committee. The county committee is responsible for prizes at the county level.
  7. Entries for the state contest must be submitted by November 16, 2007.
  8. Only one poster entry per county.

All entries submitted to the state contest become property of Arkansas Farm Bureau and Arkansas Ag-in-the-Classroom. Although entries may be returned to the students, copies of entries may be used in promotional materials, web-sites, literature, or other medium deemed appropriate by the Arkansas Farm Bureau and Arkansas Ag-in-the-Classroom.

Essay Contest Rules and Awards

  1. The essay contest is open to students in grades 7 – 8.
  2. Only one essay per county may be submitted to the state contest.
  3. The essay may only be one page in length and front side only. A typewritten essay must be at least 12 pt. font.
  4. The student’s name, school name, grade level, teacher’s name, and county must be printed on the back of the essay. All entries must be signed and verified as the student’s authentic work by an official representative of the county Farm Bureau.
  5. Prizes for the essay contest are: First Place - $100.00, Second Place - $75.00, and Third Place - $50.00. Prizes at the county level are at the discretion of the county committee. The county committee is responsible for prizes at the county level.
  6. Entries for the state contest must be submitted by November 16, 2007.
  7. The theme for the contest this year is “If it weren’t for farmers...”
