Top Young Farmer and Rancher Finalists Profiled

LITTLE ROCK — Three 2009 Arkansas Farm Bureau Young Farmer & Rancher Achievement contest finalists-families are profiled in the following releases. They are Jeremy and Magen Allen of Bismarck (Hot Spring County) who has a feeder calf and laying hen operation, Jeremy and Carissa Gillam of Searcy (White County) who produce blackberries, blueberries, grapes, muscadines and asparagus and C.J. and Cara Parker of Carlisle (Lonoke County) who grow rice, soybeans and wheat. The state winner will be named at the 2009 Arkansas Farm Bureau convention Dec. 2-4 in Little Rock. Top prize is a Chevrolet 2500 Quad-Cab four-wheel-drive pickup. The winner also gets an expenses-paid trip to the American Farm Bureau convention at Seattle to compete in the national competition. Runners-up will receive $1,000.
