LITTLE ROCK — Three families have been selected as finalists in Arkansas Farm Bureau’s 2008 Young Farmers & Ranchers Achievement Award competition.
They are:
• Dannie and Robin Daughhetee of Proctor (Crittenden County). They grow rice, soybeans, milo, wheat, cattle and alfalfa hay.
• Jeremy and Carissa Gillam of Searcy (White County). They produce blackberries, blueberries, grapes, muscadines and asparagus.
• Terry and Felicia Hall of Jonesboro (Craighead County), who produce rice, soybeans and wheat.
ARFB’s YF&R Achievement Award recognizes farmers and ranchers 18–35 for exemplary effort in farming and ranching, leadership and community involvement. The winning couple is announced at ARFB’s annual convention, this year Dec. 3–5 in Hot Springs, where they receive a Chevrolet 2500 Quad-Cab four-wheel-drive pickup.
The winners also get an expenses-paid trip to the 2009 American Farm Bureau Federation convention in January in San Antonio, Texas. There, they compete with YF&R Achievement Award winners from the other 49 states and Puerto Rico.
